Count down to the Knitting and Stitching Show

Excitement is mounting. Picked up saris and garments from RCKC's Wembley shop today. They are simply exquisite.
A last minute dash to Shepherds Bush market for velcro and pins - and we are pretty much set for the installation tomorrow. Katherine Eves, our tireless intern, helped prepare the mannequins this morning. Was so pleased to get hold of Nyla, formerly stylist at Asiana magazine, who is going to help us drape. Not that these radically new saris need much traditional draping. But Nyla is a wizard when it comes to presenting clothes.
We aim to judge the shortlisted entries on Friday afternoon....

I first heard it in the womb...

As promised, here are some images from the stitched book created by our intern Katherine Eves. I am hoping that Katherine will allow us to display this book when we're at the Knitting and Stitching Show - as its title links in so well with the Stitch project. It's about her connection to thread, fabric and stitch - and her deep affection for her Grandmother.

Volunteering at the Knitting and Stitching Show

Back - just – in an autumn routine. We're once again off to the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace (having been kindly offered the space by Creative Exhibitions).

We're just putting together a team of about eight volunteers to help with the stand over the course of the show (6th October = set up, 7-10 October = show). Last year everyone had fun, I think. This year we’ll be revealing the winners of the latest British Sari Story exhibition at the stand as well as one or two other exciting elements.

So – please email me know if you'd like to be part of the team at info@bridging-arts.com. I’d be delighted to hear from you as soon as possible (have four names on the list already). Last year, this did prove pretty popular.

News to make a morning

And excellent news - hot off the press! - that has made my morning. Exhibition organisers Twisted Thread confirms that we can unveil the winners of the British Sari Story at this year's Knitting and Stitching Show.
That means we will be reaching an audience of 50,000 of keen embroiderers - and a new audience with the British Sari Story competition.
The Knitting and Stitching Show will be at Alexandra Palace from 7-10 October 2010. It's Europe's biggest textile show.  Our partner in the British Sari Story, sari retailer RCKC, will be making up the winners.
