A reminder of Istanbul at the Tate

The watercolour exhibition at Tate Britain - worth a visit. Was surprised to find such a range - and such excitement in the medium. Watercolours by war artists (the medium is ideal for fast work) were particularly striking.As was the below, of course  - Hhareem Life, Constantinople 1857 by John Frederick Lewis. A reminder of a visit in 2009 and a piece of embroidery created by Ferdous Rahman. Ferdous embroidered the patterns she saw on a tile on a mosque wall. The walls of the harem are as colourful.
